The Member for Coffs Harbour, Andrew Fraser, is pleased that a long term resolution has been found to the management of vegetation within the Obstacle Limitation Surface (OLS) surrounding the Coffs Harbour Airport.

“I was very pleased to be able to assist Coffs Harbour City Council in this matter,” Mr Fraser said.

“This has been a problem for Council for many years, and at one point the Civil Aviation Authority (CASA) was threatening to restrict aircraft operations into and out of the Coffs Harbour airport,” Mr Fraser said.

“As soon as I became aware of the problem I arranged for an inspection of the area by the Deputy Premier, the Hon Andrew Stoner MP, and the Deputy Director General of the Department of Catchments and Lands, Ms Renata Brooks and also raised the issue in State Parliament.

“Following my representations, I am very pleased to advise that a long term solution for this problem has now been found,” Mr Fraser added.

“CHCC is being offered an easement that will help with access to the area and the details of this matter are to be finalised in the very near future,” Mr Fraser said.

“Under the previous Labor Government no progress could be made on this matter, and I am very pleased that the Coalition Government has now worked to resolve this issue for CHCC,” Mr Fraser concluded.
