NEW COFFS HARBOUR POLICE STATION OPEN FOR BUSINESS

Member for Coffs Harbour Andrew Fraser and NSW Minister for Police and Emergency Services Stuart Ayres have today welcomed the opening of a new police station in Coffs Harbour.

The $20 million state-of-the-art facility is part of Coffs Harbour’s newly constructed justice precinct, which has placed the area at the forefront of law and order infrastructure in NSW.

“A fundamental responsibility for the New South Wales Government is to ensure its citizens are kept safe from the fear of crime and, when it does occur, to ensure those who commit the crimes are placed before the courts,” Mr Fraser said.

“I and many others in the community have worked tirelessly for this police station, and it is with great pride we see it officially open today.

“Citizens and law enforcement officers alike can now enjoy a convenience of access to police in a manner which did not exist before,” Mr Fraser said.

Minister Stuart Ayres said these new police premises provide the community and the NSW Police Force with the best resources available.

“The station gives space for up to 120 personnel so they can undertake their duties in an efficient and comfortable way,” Mr Ayres said.

“The modern facility provides space for training and has forensic, custodial and cell facilities.

“I am sure this new cutting edge police station will significantly contribute to the police role of keeping the community safe from crime,” Mr Ayres added.

The police station has been designed to achieve the equivalent of a five star water and energy rating based on the National Australian Built Environment Rating System.

Construction was completed in December and the new Police Station will be operational immediately.
