Member for Coffs Harbour Andrew Fraser said local residents will welcome news the $194 million Coffs Harbour Hospital Expansion Project is taking another step forward.
Mr Fraser said CPB Contractors have been announced as the main works contractor to lead this important project.
CPB will begin work on site from the middle of next year.
“When complete, this project will deliver a new emergency department, operating theatres, additional critical care and inpatient beds, as well as increased capacity for chemotherapy and renal dialysis,” Mr Fraser said.
“The site has been taking shape in recent weeks, since early works began in late November to divert services and construct a new access road.
“The project team, including the Mid North Coast Local Health District and Health Infrastructure, has consulted with clinicians, community representatives and other stakeholders to ensure the hospital meets the community’s needs.
“Our new hospital will ensure high quality, contemporary and accessible care close to home, and improved facilities for our hard-working hospital staff and health practitioners.
“The people of Coffs Harbour and surrounding communities deserve the best. That’s why the NSW Government has made this significant investment.”
